Roofus is an Italian startup that works within the Internet of Things field, offering smart doghouses in supermarkets or shopping centers which allow dogs’ owners to leave their puppy in total security while they’re shopping.
Our collaboration stemmed from user experience’s design and from graphic interface activities for iOS and Android and it continued with mobile development activities from apps realized in Flutter.
👉 We started our project in a co-design phase to align ourselves with the technical and marketing team of the client
👉 Then, we went over the definition of users’ flows for a first look at the designated pathways for the user based on the pivotal use case outlined
👉 After that we focused on a session of low-fidelity wireframe design to allow us to consider the greatest number of possible solutions and to easily share them with the client to receive some feedback
👉 Therefore, we designed the graphic interface and illustrative contents for the onboarding phases and unlocking of the doghouse
👉 We developed semi-native apps for iOS and Android.

Our product consists of a mobile app whose main functionality is unlocking doghouses that will open to a world of services such as dog sitting, dog walking and dog hosting. Our consideration of the product’s developmental vision medium to long term allowed us to structure the app in a modular way to achieve the perfect integration of the next features, defining the app’s Home as a Hub for all the services devoted to our four-legged friends’ lovers. We paid particular attention to the locking/unlocking phase of the doghouse and many tests with real people have been done to be sure to leave nothing to chance.
Once we defined the functional structure of the app, we went over the creation of a design system based on vivid and energetic colors in line with the brand Roofus. A minimal iconographic system composed of full shapes was defined to convey simplicity of usage and trust at the same time. The prototype we realized allowed us to share with the client a finished product to the pixel for main interactions, to draw in details the most delicate flows, from booking to unlocking the doghouse.
The mobile apps developed interface with the doghouse in a flexible and slim way, allowing the final user to book it, unlock the door at the beginning and at the end of the process, manage smart integrated functionalities such as:
👉 Consultation of the available doghouses nearby map depending on the GPS position of the user
👉 Real-time visualization of their own dog inside the doghouse, turning on and off the light and vent to adjust the climate inside the doghouse itself
👉 Payment with credit card based on the duration of the session
👉 Saving different payment methods
👉 Personalization of their own profile and their dogs’
